A beautiful home with exquisite interior designs, patio and landscaping is a dream we all harbour. While purchasing the house is our decision, to make it look beautiful we need the assistance of many. Magical Homes is one such helper. Startup Magical Homes works on improving the quality of houses by renovating or styling them. Founded by Dipika Singh in August 2012, Magical Homes offers home styling and makeover service to make existing homes attractive. They can work with your existing furniture and inventory to give your house an all new look.

Currently operating only in Mumbai, Magical Homes assists people with soft furnishings and accessories to style their homes. But Dipika insists they are different from an interior design firm. “There is a latent market for people who want professional help in doing up their homes without making any structural changes. They don't want to call in an interior designer because that is not what they 'need'. They only want help with the softer aspects of décor,” explains Dipika. And Magical Homes endeavors to help people do just that – make their homes closer to their dream of perfection.

Dipika wants to target people who have moved to Mumbai and are not sure what to buy and where to buy things to decorate their homes. Magical homes has tie ups with salons and spas by which they acquire their customers, word by mouth has also helped Magical homes in their promotions. “Our customers may not really have the time or inclination to style up their place but still wish to have a good looking house, especially if it is a rented accommodation,” says Dipika. Magical Homes also offers personal shopping with the clients to buy the right accessories for them. Magical Homes’ most popular product is the Express Home Makeover - a half day makeover involving rearranging of furniture and accessories without spending a penny. However there is a charge for the service they offer. “We ensure an improved, decluttered look and also leave behind a list of suggestion for purchases that the client can do at a future date,” says Dipika.

Dipika
Magical Homes operates on both online and offline fronts. The online services mainly focus on home improvement, home décor etc and offline front is the express home styling. Dipika aims to integrate the two verticals, where the homeowners can mail/upload photographs for online consultations. She sums up saying, “Ideally I would like to see both aspects of Magical Homes come together, making us a name synonymous with home styling.” Dipika also plans to start a line of limited edition home accessories that we can sell to clients through the website. Dipika finds it a challenge to make people understand the difference between what they do and interior decoration, but is sure she can make them see value.

Before starting up on her own, Dipika was a marketing and advertising professional for 12 years. She is an Economics graduate and has also completed her MBA. Before Magical Homes Dipika had made an attempt to launch a home accessories store, which had to be shut down because of very high rentals.
