LG launches two new Make In India smartphones
On Thursday, LG Electronics India announced the launch of its K7 and K10, the first smartphones the company will be making in India. The move reiterates the company’s long term commitment to India and its customers in the country.
A report in Deccan Chronicle states that at the launch event, the company unveiled the K7 and K10, its latest line of smart phones in unique glossy pebble design with advanced camera technology and UX features of LG’s premium models. The K-Series smartphones will be the first to offer LG’s glossy pebble design, a contemporary, stylish look with a curved, modern finish aimed at a younger audience.
The sleek pebble design is complemented by LG’s new 2.5D Arc Glass for a smooth and seamless style that could only be made possible due to the sides of K-series smartphones being free of button clutter. With design cues borrowed from nature, the K10 and K7 look far more expensive and exclusive than they really are.
The back cover features an intricate woven pattern for optimal grip and confidence when on the move. Further, because consumers on the move tend to enjoy an active lifestyle, the K-series is designed with multimedia creation and consumption in mind—with a larger screen to display images and videos captured with the most advanced camera (13MP on the rear and 8MP on the front in the case of the K10) in a smartphone in this category.
At the launch, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister, Communications and IT, Government of India, said, “The Indian digital ecosystem will be a $1 trillion economy in the next 5 years with $400 billion contribution from smartphones and electronics manufacturing, 350 billion from IT and ITES enables services and $250 billion from Communications services. LG is a large global brand name and we are very excited that they have chosen to manufacture mobile handsets from India. With LG smartphones consumers will have access to governance, information and knowledge in the hands.”
The K7 will be available in the market at a price of Rs 9,500 while the K10 will be available for Rs 13,500.
