Republic Day sale: Amazon, Flipkart offer discounts on iPhone X
As is usual with festive/holiday season sales on online platforms, the impending Republic Day celebration has brought good news for e-commerce shoppers. Sellers on online marketplaces Flipkart and Amazon are offering attractive discounts on smartphones from Apple, among others, in a bid to woo customers.
Apple’s latest offering, iPhone X, has been given 3-4 percent discounts on Flipkart. While this may sound like a small amount, it brings down the price of iPhone X 64 GB from Rs.89,000 to Rs.85,000 and the price of iPhone X 256 GB from Rs.1,02,000 to Rs.98,000. The former has the same price on Amazon as well, while the latter is not discounted on Flipkart’s rival platform.
The home-grown player has offered iPhone 6s at Rs 37,999, a 22 percent discount on the original price, and iPhone 7 32 GB at Rs 41,000 after 16 percent discount. iPhone 8 64GB is available at Rs 54,999 after 14 percent off, while the 256 GB model is at Rs 69,499 after 9 percent discount. Both models are available at around the same price on Amazon.
iPhone 7 32GB is available for Rs.41,000 after 16 percent off on Flipkart. On Amazon, the 256 GB version is available for Rs.52,999 after 25 percent discount (on Rs 74,499), while Flipkart offers the same at Rs 63,999.
Apple’s biggest rival Samsung is also on discount on both platforms. Samsung S7 Edge is available with flat Rs.6000 off, at a final price of Rs 35,900, while S7 offers Rs 19,010 off and a final price of Rs.26 990, on Flipkart. Other prominent popular brands, including Redmi, Moto, Oppo, and LG, are also available with discounts.
Mobile phones are the biggest contributors of GMV (gross merchandise value) for online marketplaces. But they do not provide great margins. Flipkart has earlier claimed that they are the category leaders with 70 percent market share in mobile phones, fashion, and electronic appliances. The three categories are the top ones for Amazon too, which says they witnessed 100 percent annual growth on smartphone sale.
