Vacation is ‘yay and work is ‘nay’, right? Well, heading out for vacations does seem like a great escape, but can't be your everyday stress buster.

It a no-brainer that work bogs us down and leaves us exhausted. On most workdays you just count every waking moment till you reach the sacrosanct weekend. But imagine, if you could put in the same amount of effort you do while planning a vacation into your office work! We discuss quirks that help you keep the workday blues at bay.

Get up from the desk

Sitting at your desk all day for the sake of ‘trying to get things done’ can lead you to hate your desk… eventually. A sedentary lifestyle affects are not limited to your work productivity, it has been proven to have dire consequences to your health. So go for a walk or just climb stairs, make it into a workout. A change of environment will induce your productivity.

Meet up with someone for lunch

Tired of office lunches and the cold workplace interiors, then why don't you try a quaint bistro in the neighborhood. If you feel like you are up for some rejuvenation during a boring office day, make an impromptu plan to catch up with a buddy for lunch. It not only gives you time to escape, but also helps to network. Try and talk about all things but work and indulge in meaningful conversation.

Watch an inspiring video

If you really want to unplug but cannot, thanks to your 9 to 5, do something we all do during a vacation, watch a movie or read a book, maybe not an entire movie, but videos at least. Bookmark inspirational videos of your choice that you would want to watch to clear you mind. Ted Talks are a great source of inspiration and it personally works for me.

Keep one of your afternoons for yourself

People with mandatory daily meetings do not have this option, but those who have the autonomy of working on their own, should implement this habit. Dedicate some time to indulge in insightful thinking, it will get your creative juices flowing.

These habits might lead to changes of tectonic proportions, but will surely make work less stressful for you!
