‘Success comes from creativity and finding the right vibes’ - Mayur Shah, Focus Art Gallery, Chennai

Focus Art Gallery in Egmore, Chennai, features diverse art works priced from Rs 350 to Rs 10 lakhs (see Part I of our photo essay here). “The size of the gallery, location and design draws all kinds of customers, and encourages newcomers to explore the world of art at their own pace,” said Mayur Shah, gallery director, in a chat with YourStory.

“We are a one-stop shop for a wide variety of arts. Art is not something to be scared of or intimidated by,” says Mayur. “Art galleries do not need to be snobbish, but are intended to bring art to life for a wide range of artists and audiences. Art moves you and excites you, it enhances your life,” he adds.

“Self taught artists are also able to make it big in the art world. Success comes from creativity and finding the right vibes. You need to be different and stand out, and also connect to audiences,” Mayur advises aspiring artists.

Focus Art Gallery hosts a range of workshops and courses for artists. Future plans include movies on artists, projects for younger artists, and corporate programmes.
