In this week's HerStoryRecommends, we take you to the streets of Asia for some delectable Street Food on Netflix, and also show you the different sides of Melinda Gates in her new book.
The final showdown
Since the world is still on Avengers mode, we are not giving away anything, not yet. There are some of us who still haven't had enough of Avengers: Endgame, and cannot stop watching it multiple times. For, it has evoked a range of emotions from within us - did you laugh, cry, feel miserable but didn't know what hit you? That's what Avengers does to most people. The grand finale to the 22 Marvel superhero movies we have grown to love. Lost in space, Tony Spark sends a message to Pepper Potts. Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers - Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, and Bruce Banner must come together, bring back their allies and brace for a showdown with the evil demigod, Thanos. We are not saying anything more, except watch it. Again. And again. The Marvel experience is not just enough for one time.

Powerful memoir
Melinda Gates, the third most powerful woman of the world according to Forbes, makes her literary debut with The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World, which shares insightful stories from her conversations with women all over the world in an effort to understand gender equality at every level. This is from her work as Chairperson of the Bill & Gates Foundation, which works with the underprivileged in many countries. But the book is also about the "woman", Microsoft employee and wife. Melinda talks about the brash culture at Microsoft in her early days at the company. In The Moment of Lift, she reveals she wanted to quit but didn’t discuss it with her then boyfriend and later husband, Microsoft CEO Bill Gates. Despite the strong message conveyed through the book, there are also lighter moments that make it “human”. It brings across a certain vulnerability that Melinda Gates is neither ashamed nor afraid of. A good memoir to read and learn from.

Food on the street
If you loved Anthony Bourdain and his take on food, you'll simply love this one. The creators of Netflix's new show Street Food have been inspired by the great chef and travel writer to bring to us food from the streets, from the most popular open-air markets in some of the most bustling cities in the world. The first season of Street Food, now out on Netflix, is set in Asia and is both a visual and gastronomic delight as it delves into the food and traditions of the cities it takes us to - from family recipes to survival stories to delectable food you don't get at a fine dining place. Season 1 takes us on a tour of Bangkok, Osaka, Delhi, Yogyakarta, Chiayi, Seoul, Ho Chi Minh City, and Cebu. We can't wait for Season 2 already!
