Faced with more doom and gloom than I could stand, there was some good day I decided to be my own boss. I didn't talk much about what was going on inside my head. Keeping my hopes high and getting inspiration from everything that was happening around me; I successfully did set my business up. It was a tough journey from changing a dozen jobs to being the founder of ProofHub. A number of instances that left a mark on me during this journey and taught me about how to overcome hard times.

Here are some of the things I learned during the course of my life that helped me navigate different situations:

1. If you have a plan, take action

As you start taking steps toward following your dreams, you must come up with a plan. A plan will be like a map to tackle any problem that comes up on the way towards making your dream come true and figure out what outcome will be there for your efforts. But make sure your plans are realistic, to make it happen. Is it something that you can consider to take an action to make your future better? Don’t forget - a plan is only good if it is actionable.

Think for a while - what you really want and how you can reach there feasibly. Usually when I make a plan, I do not stick to just one option. I think about ‘n’ number of situations, whatever that comes to my mind, and then usually end up sticking to the one that seems more realistic, more actionable and more reliable, and at the same time a little strict.

2. Finding success is easier as a team

It is one of the loneliest things to do to start business alone. So, why not invite someone along for the ride? The biggest lesson I’ve learned the hard way is that things get a lot easier when you are not doing it alone. It is never going to work out the way we planned if we try to win the entire battle single handedly. You need to have a team who can work towards the ultimate goal you chose to achieve. This is the reason it becomes imperative to have people around with skills that complement yours. Build a team that can align with what you want to achieve and then get them all to work together in one direction. I have seen entrepreneurs losing a sight of their dreams when they try to go alone all the way. So, make a team for getting over any barriers and make a soar.

3. Don’t be afraid to get help

You have to put your ego aside if you have to manage your business well. I have a great network support to rely on whenever I need a help. My family and friends are always there to listen to my struggles. Make a list of things that are of priority to you and take time to find the sort of help you need in terms of legal, financial, tax, risk management or whatever that comes to your mind. Entrepreneurs need to understand that asking for help is never a sign of weakness. Have the courage and feel free to get help without the fear of judgment.

4. Give all your energy to pursue something you love

Though I took a lot of detours to pursue what I love, but ultimately I got personal fulfillment when I gave all my energy towards it. If you want to make it as an entrepreneur, energy is the pure motivation. Why is it this way? Because things are going to start off smoothly but won’t always be so smooth. Devote your energy towards making your dream come true. Focus hard on pushing through the tough times, for which you will have to give all your energy. And, you will surely get the results you aspire to achieve.

5. Follow your curiosity

To be a successful entrepreneur you need to have the curiosity to achieve a higher step daily . but it’s not just having the curiosity that matters. What matters is how you follow your curiosity. A curious mind will always be able to connect ideas better. Tap into things that interest you and give you a path to find who you are, and everything will automatically start to fall into pieces.
